Title: Which one?
Post by: RebelW on February 24, 2017, 11:04:08 AM
At the store now to buy a new choke to try in my 870 26" barrel sm. Either the new Carlson LBXR choker or Kicks 655. Which one do y'all think I should try..?

.655 maybe too tight.  The 870's seem to like chokes in the .665 range.

.655 is probably too tight.  I agree with bbcoach, something in the .665 range would probably be your best bet...

LB's are super tight out of most chokes.  Indian Creek makes a .665 that would probably do well with LB 6's.  Also Sumtoy can put you on to a Great choke for the LB's and the SSX is another Great choke for the 870 with the LB's.  Check the Remington pattern posts for some PICS of the 870 with different chokes and Good luck with your search.

Yeah I posted my 870 pics of my SSX. It did ok. It had a lot of holes in my pattern. Kind of splotchy. I shot 6's with it. Just wanted something more dense. I've used about everything but really wanted to try the carlsons

The .643 SSX is probably way too tight and is blowing holes in the pattern.  Some of the 870 guys will probably chime in with some good advice.  Contact Sumtoy and see what he recommends with the LB 6's.
