Title: what choke tube?
Post by: PaLongshank on February 22, 2017, 08:15:58 AM
Wondering what choke tube most guys running with an 870 youth 20 and Heavy 7's??  Currently have a Tightwad in my sons, which was very sufficient as it left a little less dense pattern to make up for the shakes.......he is getting older (and better) now and want to tighten it up and gain an extra few yards.....suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks PaLongshank

Tru lock made for the Fed. HW shells.  this will give you very nice hunting patterns but not "to tight". Another good option but even more open would be A tru lock or Carlson's .570.   I use a sum toy and it's really tight, It sounds like your looking for something more forgiving.

Do a search on here for the remington extra or super full. Go to walmart or a lot of sportings goods stores that sell Remington's and pay thirty bucks . I have a total of five different chokes with well over $100.00 invested in them and the remington is the best. I shoot fed. Hw 7 and the remington choke does just as good or better as the others. I have tru-lok,carlson,jelly head, undertaker, and I will be hunting with the remmy this year.     Buford

Carlson .575 extended

X2
Mine shoots in the mid 140's, very even pattern. The perfect hunting pattern.

Mine likes both the Carlson and Sumtoy but the Sumtoy throw a more even pattern.

562 5 is the one for the Federal.  It will shoot most anything after we did a small change.

I tried a tightwad, Carlson Extended .575 and  RSF rated for Hevi Shot. The RSF was the cLear winner out of my sons 870 youth. The tightwad shot a nice pattern up close but at 35 yards the RSF really shined compared to the others.
