I have never read any of the books that are mentioned here quite often. I'm looking to buy a couple of these turkey hunting books to help pass the time waiting on the season to get here. So if you had to rank your top 3 all time favorite turkey hunting books, which ones would it be? Thanks
Turkey Hunting, A One Man Game by Ken Morgan, The Wild Turkey and Its Hunting by E.A. McIlhenny (free on Google Books) and The Old Pro Turkey Hunter by Gene Nunnery. Why didn't you say four so I could include Tenth Legion by Tom Kelly?
Will not remention those already mentioned, Old Pro is my favorite, but will add Illumination of the Flatwoods, The Turkey Hunting World of Ben Lee, and America, Wild Turkeys, and Mongrel Dogs

Prices on "The Old Pro Turkey Hunter" kind of caught me off guard. Wow that's an expensive book.
East of the slash by wineman and The flaming wild turkey
"The Old Pro Turkey Hunter" is my favorite. It's about turkey hunting the old fashioned way.

How much was it?
ebay and amazon are priced about the same. Both are $60-65.
If you're a Kindle user like I am you can get probably close to 10 books on Turkeys and Turkey hunting from Amazon for the price of "The Old Pro Turkey Hunter" hardback. Seems like an easy decision.
Bearded Bird by Larry Hudson
Tall Timber Gabriel's by Charles Whittington
Bad Birds by Jim Spencer
Too many to choose from and rank.
This one is my favorite. It's the only one I know of in existence. Jim Casada doesn't even have a copy. It's a 20 page, self published book (with photographs) by my childhood Pastor's father in law. W.H. Purser of Clemson, SC.
It is to me, priceless..
Foreward page
"The Truth: About Spring Turkey Hunting According to Cuz" by Ronnie "Cuz" Strickland. If you like reading first hand accounts of individual hunts, this one is great. Very entertaining.
1) Bad Birds - Jim Spencer
2) The American Wild Turkey - John McDaniel
3) Tenth Legion - Tom Kelly

bad birds
Thanks for the replies so far guys. Looks like ill have plenty to keep me busy until the season opener here in NC.
1: Tenth Legion
2: The book of the wild turkey Lovett Williams
3: The art and science of wild turkey hunting also Lovett Williams
My top book to read was- Wayne's Turkey World-60 years of hunting by Wayne Baily. I also like Turkey Hunting- A One Man Game. Both of those books are signed too. And Dwain Blains- Turkey Hunters Digest. He has a ton of pics in his book and my fav is when he stepped out of a abandoned shed and took a fall gobbler on the wing with a old muzzleloader.
Just wanted to update this thread. In the last week or so I have managed to read "The Wild Turkey and its Hunting", "Turkey Hunting, a One Man Game", "Illumination of the Flatwoods", and just finished "Tenth Legion." All of these books were great and I appreciate the recommendations. I plan to pick up a couple more by the first of next week. Thanks again!!
I just finished east of the slash. Its a awsome book. Really like it because I too am from Ms and enjoy reading about turkey hunting in my home state. I ended up ordering a call from John Eddleman who is written about in the book.

I am still hoping to read "The Old Pro Turkey Hunter" but I am going to have to continue on a quest to find a copy cheaper than what I have saw so far. The price of that book is a little over what Id like to spend to read it. But I am sure that it would be well worth the price most are asking.
Most older books are good, my choices are 1. Turkey Hunting Spring and Fall Doug Camp
2. Wild Turkey Hunting and Management Lovitt Williams
3. Turkey Hunting a One Man Game Ken Morgan
4. Tenth Legion Tom Kelly
5. Hunting the American Wild Turkey Col. Dave Harbour USAF
Happy reading and good book hunting ! :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an
