I'm finally going to get a dedicated turkey gun and I've found 3 guns that I'm debatting.
Mossberg 500 Turkey Thug. Has LPA trigger. Has the collapsible ATI stock.
Mossberg 535 turkey with tru glo red dot and LPA trigger. Has the fixed pistol grip stock.
Mossberg 835 tactical turkey. Has the ATI stock.
All three have 20" barrels. I am leaning towards the 835 for its reputation but I've seen great patterns from the other two as well. The 535 is $100 more than the others also. What would you guys say?

I just moved from the 535 to the 835 and I love it. I don't shoot 3.5"s but it just had better options.
I'd go 835
My vote is for the 535. The 835 kicks like a horse.

Isn't the 535 lighter than the 835?

I was looking at a 870 with the sureshot but I just prefer a mossberg.

My bad. I confused it with the 935 thinking that it is an auto loader which is easier on the shoulder than a pump. Sorry about that.

The 935s thump pretty good. Some reason 835/935s got a bad reputation for kicking hard, but they kick no harder than any other. Honestly, the hardest kicking shotgun I have ever shot was a black synthetic 870 Super Mag with 3.5" federal shells.
Agree 100% on the 870 with Federals. They will knock the taste out of your mouth.
Out of your selection....835
Six of one, half dozen the other. Added payload with the 3.5" guns but that's about it. Going that route, doesn't really matter what you're shooting. Unless it's a gas operated gun, it's gonna kick your butt. Mossberg, Remington, doesn't matter. 3.5" is still 3.5". They hurt. Gas guns will tame them enough to make them tolerable for the bench but still doesn't make them 100% enjoyable. Unless you're into that sort of thing. ;D
Don't know why or how I missed this on my search but what are the opinions on the Winchester SXP Long Beard? I don't much care for the camo pattern but thats not a huge deal

Winchester had some problems with the SXP slam firing for a while. I'd think they've worked it out by now but not certain. Only heard about it happening on the 12 ga models. Guy on YouTube had a video showing it going off when he'd rack the action. Didn't have to do it hard either. Made me rethink things a bit personally.
