One day last summer I was teaching archery at a women's class. This lady walked in n was determined to be good at it. First day we only use string bows but she cheated n came to an open shoot the next day where we let new students shoot to see if they like it.
GlockGirl came w sore shoulders from practicing all night w her string but shot the bows decently.
At first she was just a student but once she started w her anti Hillary rant I instantly liked her.
Time progressed n she became a good shot all the while concentrating on getting it right. Pretty commendable the determination.
Near the end of class she mentioned wanting to hunt. We had a week or so before hunter ed n she didn't even have a bow yet. She got one, I helped her along n she passed the accuracy portion with flying colors. Outshot just about everyone if I recall.
At the end of classes she volunteered to help teach archery. She gets it n would be a great asset so she got certified. She volunteered as a hunter ed instructor n was fantastic.
She's also a Glock armourer n a dog trainer. Yea I know Glock yuck!
This season we had some great hunts n great times. GlockGirl is a great student and fantastic person n friend. She's done some really nice things n they'll never be forgotten.
She recently lost her shop and this week found work in Oklahoma. God bless her but it seems I won't get to call her first bird. She was very passionate about hunting. I hope she finds someone out there to keep pointing her in the right direction, she's learned so much n I hope she continues. If anyone knows an area near Broken Arrow Oklahoma that has decent hunting maybe you can pm her with some direction.
Thanks bowguy! I will take everything you taught me to Oklahoma and you will be the first one to hear of my first successful hunt!! I was blessed to have such an amazing mentor and friend.
You'll need to go west...near I-35 and beyond to get into good turkey population. There's also a good population north of you in Osage County. The birds in SE Oklahoma never have recovered, there are birds there, but nothing like they were.
Best of luck to you GlockGirl!!!!! Keep us posted. Thanks for sharing Bowguy.
