Title: Clear coat or bronze on decoy?
Post by: deerbasshunter3 on February 01, 2017, 05:16:17 PM
I have a Primos Gobbstopper decoy set and the jake looks good, but is very dull. I feel like it should have some shine to it.

Which would be best for a light coat, bronze or clear coat?

For shine, try Armour All.

You are over-thinking it way too much, I've seen tons of gobblers killed by a Coke can and a tail fan on a stick. If he's in the right mood, he could care less......

Kind of what I was thinking in the back of my mind... Thanks!

But if he's not in the right mind, and needs a little convincing....spray with a clear satin spray paint.

You can also touch up the head etc with acrylic craft paint before the clear coat.....even bronze the tips of the feathers.

I bought this DSD used....it was all beat up and faded badly, like it had been sitting outside for years.....a little paint work, flocked the back, and he's as good as new, if not better  ;)
