Thinking about starting to look for a new to me ride.
Currently have a truck (4x4, 180k miles 2003 GMC) and a old work car. Will probably keep the truck. I'm thinking about a smaller SUV to pull double duty replace work car and maybe out of state turkey hunting trips. A newer truck would be nice, but can't really justify the cost.
Looking for your suggestions/experiences.
Thanks!
This is my ride with 364,000 miles. 1991 model but bought it in 2012. (http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170128/91ecc27923d9aaa306787f332c8ef4e8.jpg)

Next truck will be a 4wd but I will probably stick with Toyota. This one has been good to me

I am a gmc/chevy guy myself. Had good luck with them. Bout to replace mine in a month or two. I hate the looks of a 4 door but I love being able to haul the family on vacation as well as throw my hunting stuff in the back and go. The company I work for gave me a truck for work so my personal truck doesn't rack up many miles Cept on weekends and during hunting season. My last one has lasted ten years and I now have 108,000 miles on it. Been a good truck and I kinda hate to see it go. That being said I had an early 2000's blazer that made a heck of a hunting rig. The 4.3 vortech motor was a great one.

2007 model Chevy Z71 LTZ 4 wh. drive , with 59,000 miles ...Bought it brand new...i've always had 4 wh. drives after paying that extra, to get 4 wh. drive , good truck... If your going to ride in style you don't worry about gas mileage....
I was in your place a couple years ago. I did the Jeep Patriot shown below. AWD and still gets 27-29 on the road and 23-25 in the city. I got the Sport 2.4L motor and the 6 speed auto and crank windows. The cold weather package came with 17" alloy wheels, off road tires and tow hooks. Under 20k new.

2016 f150 fx4. Bought it just before rifle season in the fall. Got the bed bloody with a buck a week after I got it. Hope to get some turkey blood on it this spring.

A 2003 Toyota Tacoma. Bought it new and have 145,000 miles on it. This truck has been awesome. I change the oil every 3000-5000 miles, changed the front brakes and at 120,000 I did the water pump, hoses, thermostat, belts and anti-freeze. The paint and body are in really good condition so I hope to drive it for many more years. I would definitely look at Toyota if I were in the market for another one. She has been to Florida (2), Wisconsin (2 and drawn for this spring as well) and here in NC for turkeys.
size 13 danners. :)

Sweet....they need to come out with a camo model though. Lol..
1996 Toyota t100 4×4 with 280k miles. Still runs like a top.
2000 Dodge Dakota x-tended cab 4X4.
285,000 miles worth of screaming fury, my daughter named it " the red jet "
It's been all over the country 2 or 3 times, has hauled a ton of game and the bed is permanently coated in dried deer blood.
It's been a great ride, still has all the bells n whistles, I did put a fuel pump in it in '08 and a radiator last summer....the magnum V8 will still bust most cars from a dead stop !
Thanks for all the comments!! Keep'm coming!!
2012 Ram, 4 door, 4x4, Bighorn Edition
I have an ARE topper on it, slept many a night under it camping out on turkey trips

97 Chevy s10. Been a decent truck but nothing I'm super attached to. It's 4wd with manual transmission. Again, I like it but not married to it. Has 178k miles on it and shows no sign of stopping but I'd like something a touch bigger for hauling the wife and kids when the time calls for it. Only good thing about not being able to haul the family, if my buddy wants to smoke a cigar in the truck I just ask him if he's got 2. The short, narrow wheel base also lets me get it into places many guys wouldn't consider taking their full size rigs but then that's what ATV's are for. I'd like a 4 door Tacoma ultimately but not right now.
2013 Toyota Tacoma 4x4
1997 F-250 Power Stroke, 313K miles. Never had a wrench on the engine. Been ALL OVER with it. Crew cab, bench seats, rubber floors, hand crank windows, seats six comfortably. Had to order it that way! It's the only vehicle I've bought that didn't feel like I lost my a$$ on!
Phattboy ;)
I was gonna reply, but after Tailwalk, I've got nuthin'...

2013 Tundra "Rock Warrior" package. IF you see it parked along a road out in the middle of nowhere, I'm only hiking our hunting morels. No need to listen for gobbles!

1989 Ford F-150 4x4 302 engine with 320,000 miles still runs great. Just had the whole truck Rhino Lined looks great. Ready for spring to come
2008 Toyota Tundra double cab. It has 123,000 miles and I plan on driving it for at least another 80,000 miles. It's been a great truck so far.
The Allegheny National Forest has miles and miles of gated roads that are closed to motorized vehicles. This is the new running and gunning. Oh and my 1187 does double duty as a kick stand.

Used to be a 2003 ford ranger 4wd but had to trade it in to get my wife a new car. Now it will be a 2009 Nissan Pathfinder 4WD. Back in the day I hauled critters in an 81 corolla hatchback.

My weekend/vacation/cross state hunting trip truck. 2012 FX4 Ecoboost with 56,000 miles on it. It might get 500 miles a month put on it between my wife and i. It doesn't get used much.
My daily work commute/local hunting truck. 2000 Toyota Tundra 4x4 limited with 168,000. The v8 in this little truck has a lot of power.
'98 Camry. I bought it when my transmission went out in my Tundra and I was too broke to get another truck. I'm still too broke for anything else, and the Camry is chugging along just fine. A tom rides in the trunk just fine.

My buddy has an old Ford Escort that he sometimes uses. He calls it the "huntin' car". It's hauled many a dead deer or turkey.

In high school my buddy and I got his deer home on the hood of a 280Z turbo. Lots of looks on that trip.
309000 miles and I've thrashed, bashed and trashed the power ranger. It's still chasing turkeys.
i have a polaris sportsman 500,am lucky to have my hunting spots within a mile or two of my house
