Got your attention!
Are you a turkey hunter that prefers to gun hunt naked without the use of a blind or decoys?
No not literally naked, but meaning out in the open with no dekes?
No wrong anwsers as there are many ways to hunt them, but just curious if any hunters feel the same way gun hunting, were decoys and a blind are not really needed and it makes it a bit more of a challenge? I just basically sit against a tree and no decoys, and really enjoy this way of hunting. I'm sure there are others who are even more challenging and do not even use a blind bowhunting?
Although the few times I bowhunt, I do use a blind, to cheat my draw, and do use decoys here for a close shot. But in all honesty I hate decoys as they can make or break a hunt and elect not to use them gunning, or a blind. Anyone else like to gun hunt turkeys without the use of a blind and decoy? Thanks
I prefer to go at it naked. Although it gets painful if you set on an acorn. :toothy12:

, watch out for poison ivy too!
I've never used a blind but I do use decoys periodically.
I don't use a blind either. I use dekes every once in awhile. I do plan on buying a blind in a few years though, when my son is old enough to tag along. I think the blind is a good way to hide the wiggles
No blind or dekes for me. :icon_thumright:
Oh, but those snakes can sure put a hurt on ya if ya hunt naked! ;D
Actually, I have bad knees so I've always used a blind and dekes since I need to sit in a chair and move once in awhile to stretch the old knees.
Well, I've been hunting turkeys naked for over forty years!! No blinds or decoys for me.
No blinds, No dekes, and up until last Spring No calls. 19 birds in 8 years.
Super Naked!
No blinds for me either. My decoy serves as extra back padding in my vest 90 percent of the time. I really only use one call the rest take up space in my vest.
a blind every once in awhile
dekes once in a blue moon
I rarely use a blind, but I use dekes on a regular basis. With that said, I much prefer to run & gun, and hunt with no dekes. However, down here in Florida & the SE, where I mainly hunt, that doesn't work very good.....at least not to my experience.
I do hunt almost naked sometimes. When it gets real hot here in SW GA I will wear a bug tamer over boxers and a t shirt.
No blind or decoy when solo but with the kids I use both

And them dang old holly bush leaves, they hurt too
I never use a blind if I'm packing a shotgun and still hate hunting in a blind with a bow. I always pack a single hen decoy but seldom even put it out.
No blind here, but the decoys are out about 80% of the time.
I utilize everything. Depending on the scenario, sometimes I go at it NAKED, sometimes I use decoys, and sometimes I use a blind and dekes....I really try and figure out before I hit a certain area which equiptment will be tagging along...Most of the time though it's just me and the tree!
If I hunt fields I'll use a decoy but if I hunt the woods or mountain birds I dont. I GO NAKED!!
Butt nekid. No blind, no decoys. Hell, sometimes I don't even bring a gun..

Hunting a variety of land, I carry all that's available in my SUV, and use at times. In certain situations not using a blind or dekes would have sent me home birdless. What I have found in reading responses is some people must have real good land to hunt, ALL the time. I haven't had that luxury. I'd set up in a empty Walmart parking lot if I had to in a blind painted gray with a Pretty Boy and Hen deke, and maybe shoot a bird if they are around. Last year had better land to hunt, and didn't have days that poured rain, so didn't have a blind out the whole season. This year hunted with one of the best hunters I've ever hunted with, and he used a Jake/Hen set up to get me 2 Osceolas on back to back mornings, which is pretty dang good, especially for Osceolas. He took a third one the next morning.
I almost always hunt naked. I have used dekes a few times, but wasn't real successful. Usually I ambush the gobbler or he is hot and comes right in to my call. I have ambushed more gobblers than I've called within gun range. I have never used a blind, but I'm considering it because my seven year old grandson has started going with me on occasions.
When I first started yeah I used decoys and blinds, now I hunt naked. :D
I've never used a blind. I am going to use one of the 2 foot high stake out blinds when I take my 11 year old nephews out this year. I will sometimes use decoys depending on where I'm hunting.
I never use a blind. The whole point is to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Killing turkeys is a bonus. ;D
I used to use decoys sometimes, but I found that while they can be effective, just as often the gobbler will hang up once he sees the "hen" and expect her to come to him. So I stopped using them. Just one less thing to carry.
I have never used a blind. I use decoys sometimes, just depends on the situation.
I like blinds for archery & rainy days. I must admit, a nice cozy blind can be fun sometimes:

I like decoys for field work.
Otherwise, I just run & gun with a vest full of stuff I might need...

Yep I do that too. Works good when it's hot out. Be warned though that Bug Tamer won't stop chiggers at all unless it has been sprayed down with Permanone. Even then a couple manage to get through. Learned the hard way... scratch scratch.
With dekes or without, in a blind or not, depends what the situation calls for.
Havent hunted in a blind in a long time and use a decoy every now and then on the field first part of season. I got caught naked one time hunting but thats a diff story.
No blinds for me yet, when my kids get older i'll get one..the decoys come out on half of my hunts..i dont like dekes in the woods,i have better luck with them on field sets.
I prefer to hunt that way but I also try to be a versatile hunter and have and will alter my tactics if I think that's what I need to do to kill a particular bird. I've used decoys (not at all this year) in the past but I don't think I've killed one over a deke in 5 or 6 years.
Sounds like a good name for a book or an idea for a tv show. The Naked Turkey Hunter- no blind, no decoys, just one on one turkey wars. I'd watch it!
I hunt "Naked" as you have defined it not because I am some sort of turkey hunting purist, I hunt that way because that is what works best for me.
Naked for me.
