I've been thinking about ordering the shurshot for my 870. I'm worried that the height of the comb would make it hard to get square with the bead. I'm not really wanting to add an optic. Have y'all had any problems with this? Thanks

I looked into an 870 with the sure shot stock before buying and opted to leave it on the shelf. Could not get down far enough to use the bead without being uncomfortable. That being said, I have an 11-87 with the sure shot that I use with a scope and it lines up perfectly. Awesome stock for optics or rifled sights.
I have one on my 20 ga. 870 build and i have a saddle mount were i can also see my beads and it's not a problem you want be disappointed in the stock..i have a Simmons turkey scope mounted on mine...works great...
I have the 870 sps-t that came with the original thumb hole stock. I replaced the original stock with the ShurShot stock. I left the original forearm that came on mine since it was flat and truly much more comfortable than the rounded forearm. It also came with the smooth barrel and williams rifle sights on it. Obviously those are raised so the shurshot stock is a perfect alignment for my barrel. I could see where it would be an issue for the standard shotgun barrels. Thankfully places like Midway USA carries the 23" turkey barrel like I have and I can promise you it is worth the money for the incredible patterns it produces.
I had one on my gun but took it off you can get down on the stock for open sights but its not comfortable and it really raps you a good one when you touch it off. It's great if you have a scope or red dot on your gun
I agree with everybody above. If you put one on your gun you will also want to put an optic on it. The comb sits high and it is not comfortable to use just the Bead.

It's designed for use with optics for that it's great, for a bead you are going to have to sit your face to low and it will slap you a bit on the shot.

I have one on my 870 20 ga and its perfect height for my red dot. I wouldn't recommend the shurshot for shooting with a factory bead sight.

This. Unless you have at minimum fiber optics. I ended up pulling my clapsible pistol grip off one too. I just couldn't get used to em if you don't want optics.

I will only add that for bead sight barrels yes the line of sight would be too high. Some 870's like mine came with rifle iron sights and the shurshot stock was designed for those type barrels as well as the ones with optics.
Obviously everyone is built differently but this has been my experience.
I will also add that this stock makes recoil much more manageable as opposed to the standard stock as well as making it steadier for aiming.
