For me now- it is 100% public lands. How many members here also hunt just public lands and who here just hunts on private land for their Spring turkey hunts??
About 50/50 for me. The private I hunt is small tract leased properties that get hammered worse than the public. I've hunted public up North that puts a lot of the private down here to shame.
100% ...Private
About 50/50. I like public because you can really roam.

100% private, land that i own...
About 90% public.
100% public. :gobble:
Around 80/20 private over public.
Mostly hunted private only hunted public land a couple times last year have a nice size tract of public half a mile from my house that I plan to hunt this spring

100% private locally and 75% public when on the road.
PUBLIC LAND HAS ITS CHALLENGES ........
Private all the way for gobblers and whitetails, and nearly public all the way for ducks.

About 90 to 95% of my hunting is public. Other than the handful of x's a year I go to a couple friends properties or their leases I'm mainly all public. All depends on how many invites I get. Honestly I much prefer having free reign to go where I want and when I want on public vs. being confined to a small private piece.
Probably 50/50
About 60/40 Public for birds. Mostly private for deer with the bow. 50/50 with the slug gun.
All public for the last 30 years, finally acquired some private land to hunt so I plan to go about 80 private and 20 public this spring.
All Public. The private land I do hunt has open access.
About 90 percent private
99.9% of my turkey hunting is on public.
100% public
After considerable contemplation and the use of my extraordinary math skills which, by the way, are probably beyond the comprehension of most mere mortals,...i.e. I did my guzintas,...I have determined that exactly 93.65% of my turkey hunting is done on public land.

Depends on what I'm hunting. I hunted private land exclusively growing up. When I left home I was forced to hunt public because no one would allow me access. After 9 years of searching a guy let me hunt his place for turkeys only. Small piece and it can be a challenge getting them to cooperate but it happens often enough to keep me going back. 10 years of searching I finally found a good place to deer hunt. At this point, the only public land hunting I do is maybe a day for black powder just to stretch my legs a bit and I squirrel hunt public a lot. It's the only place I can run the dogs without much fear of them ending up in someone's yard.
mostly private for turkey some public locally but I find access for turkeys is much easier to gain than deer in the NE so I have several turkey only properties which helps.
I had a feeling it would be a combo of both for alot of hunters here. If, I ever win the lottery- I would love to buy 400 acres and post it. A dollar and a dream!
100% private.
Seems my home state hunts are 99% private and my out of state hunts are 99% public.

Public.
Both, but always wondering what side of the sign I'm supposed to be on.
Nearly 100% public on turkeys in home state. Probably 90% deer. And 100% public on ducks when I hunted them. Public or private used to be my first question when talking to someone hunting Mississippi when I was younger and someone was bragging of how many they killed. 9 times outta 10 they were hunting private. Just smiled and said 'that's awesome' knowing they'd probably not be very 'elite' when they were thrown to the woods n birds I cut my teeth learning the ways on! ;)
Public 90% of the time

99% public land Osceolas, although I did take a real nice private land eastern last season
50% public but prefer private so I can use my full strut decoy too
80% public for turkeys. 20% private for turkeys. Right opposite for deer
I hunt both Public and Private Land
About 60/40 on public and private in VA. and 100% private in WV. Both have been very good to me!
God Bless
100% public here.
Esse quam videri
I hunt 70% private to 30% public. Used to be 100% private, but I learned some new land a few counties away that seems to have a good population of birds on it. I'd hunt more public if my name were ever to be drawn to hunt a couple of the gamelands around the big reservoirs near me. About 95% of the turkeys I've killed have come off private land.
Jim
My hunting turks percentage favors private land that isn't exclusive. In fact it's more crowded often than public. Never got the worries over state or why guys think it's harder. Always ways to make distance. A mountain to climb, river to cross or simply just walk a little further.
Killed a large part of my birds on public land, I do enjoy the times I don't need to work so hard though.
Not sure how it is around the country but most guys round here (NJ/NY) quit fairly easy n any weather keeps em home too.
100% public

I used to hunt a lot of public land and then got invited by family to hunt on their land. Now, I hunt private at home and some public out West. Plan on hunting public again as fewer people hunt public here. Been setting up camera's on public. Seeing some very big bucks where everyone says there are none. Also lost two camera's to bears and got some pictures of noses and ears.
100% public turkeys and deer
50/50. I do like hunting public land for birds. After the first weekend the public crowds really clear out. In late season after most folks have given up public land offers tons of acerage to roam around.
100% private for me now. I tried public last year after a friend of my dad invited me down to hunt with them. I got shot at its not a something I ever want to do again. Now I know it could happen on private but I feel the odds are lower.
All private......very easy to find accesss around here and few people hunt so I am very luck.
100% public. I'm going to start knocking on doors to coyote hunt soon though. Hopefully that can get me into some private turkey land.

100% private when hunting local. I make one trip out west and it is about 50/50 private/public
About 90% public,10% private.
