Title: New Mexico Merriams Advice
Post by: ScottS on December 18, 2016, 09:28:03 PM
Now that deer season is winding down I have turkey on the brain and I have yet to get one of those beautiful merriams so I'm wanting to plan a solo budget diy trip or semi guided trip to the New Mexico mountains. I live in Amarillo TX so I can make it a weekend trip. I've never hunted in the mountains for birds so I'm looking for all the advice I can get including: weather to expect, shelters to use, elevation to hunt, general areas that hold birds, being solo I want to make sure I have all my bases covered so I don't get in trouble. I basically want a nice weekend in the mountains. All help is very appreciated!

Look for some springs, from what I have seen in the fall they are around those areas regularly.
