Title: Any Texas reports?
Post by: dawgfrombama on April 05, 2011, 11:42:44 PM
Are they gobbling good?  Anyone killing good birds? Henned up?  I'm leaving for the San Angelo area on the 15th.

Hunted 3 days in the panhandle.  Gail force winds on two days, so I couldn't hear any gobbling, but they gobbled great on the limb the one still morning we had.  Henned up for the most part where we were.  We killed 5 nice birds.

I'm heading back in two weeks to try for my last two tags.  They should be broken up a bit by then I hope.

Even if they are henned up, I wouldn't sweat it in an area with a high population.

Buddy of mine just got back from South Texas.  He piled up two goodens, but said they were henned as well. He's also heading back out in a week or so.

Good Luck

Dawg,
I hunted the San Angelo area a few weeks back and the birds were still in large flocks, but gobbling their heads off. You should be timed just about right with your April 15th date. There are a lot of birds in that area. Good luck.
