Seeing these fall birds pics posted and the nice weather has got me breaking out the calls. We don't have a fall season here in NC, so I'm just wondering if anyone has any recommendations. I'm thinking maybe I could find one in Virginia, but open to suggestions. I know I should just wait until spring, but I have never hunted turkeys in the fall and would love to try it.
Just go to public Virginia land and hunt. Birds in fall are not hard to kill, not guaranteeing a kill, but if you can find birds you have a good chance.

I hunt mainly on private farm land here in NC. I've never hunted on public ground, but I guess it's something I should look into. Thanks for the suggestion.
Fall birds are not tremendously hard to kill. But they can be HARD TO FIND. TN maybe???? But Virginia used to have a long and pretty late fall season Good luck.

Lots of public land in Virginia. May have to do alot of walking to get into the back country and avoid the weekenders. But if you are determined you can find birds. Plenty of acorns and sign. Currently experiencing great weather.
Thanks for the replies fellas. I have a old friend who lives in Virginia with a good amount of land that I'm reaching out to. Since he only deer hunts, I'm hoping we might be able work something out.
If he's a deer hunter you may have a hard time getting him to let you turkey hunt the property right now. The season is full swing and the rut is just starting to show signs of life. I've got no idea how long their season runs for fall birds but hardcore deer hunters typically try to keep the woods to themselves this time of year. I know this all to well. They bow hunters get highly upset when I run my squirrel dogs on public land during the bow season. Some don't realize that it's public land. Not implying your buddy is that type but I've seen my share already.
