Opening day of fall season yesterday. Went to a spot where I knew there was a mixed flock of gobblers and old hens. At daylight the woods lit up with gobbles. I've heard birds gobble in the fall before but nothing like this! I'd like to say it was an epic hunt but to be honest it was almost to easy. Sat down and made some calls and listened to some more gobbles. When the birds flew down they walked into my lap. I heard almost as many gobbles in 45 minutes of fall hunting as I did in the whole season last spring. And I walked out of the woods with a 19 pound bird with 1 1/4" spurs and an 11 1/4" beard. My best fall bird to date.
Congrats. That's a good tom.

Gotta love a boss tom who gobbles for you and rides home with you, no matter the time of the year! :z-winnersmiley:
They gobble lots on the public I hunt in IL. Sounds like a good hunt. Congrats
Congrats. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Very often when birds come in it seems too easy. It's not the norm being too easy, if it was it'd be no fun so enjoy a "gimme" every so often. Congrats
Congrats on a great bird
