Title: "Jake and a half"?
Post by: derek on October 29, 2016, 04:30:04 PM
A question to those more knowledgeable on turkey biology than I;

How much does a jake from this past spring grow in the summertime til now?  Killed a gobbler this morning - 17lbs 2 oz, 3/4" spurs, full fan and a long beard that I shot off @ 12 yds.. I would estimate it was 8-9".   Wondering if he was a 2 year old last spring or a jake, not that it matters, just interested in learning more about the birds we love, in the fall.  Text book spring, hard gobbling hunt.. it was awesome.

Thanks.
Derek

Was there a red tint to the beard when held up to the light?
