Just curious as to what music you listen to to get you pumped before you go turkey hunting?

Rap. When the truck cranks up, the iPod turns on and the music gets to booming.
There's a band that wasn't very well known called Phoenix Mourning. They have since broken up, but a few years ago when I couldn't sleep the night before opening day, I listened to their CD. It's some pretty heavy metal, but I like that type of music and the lyrics in some of the songs are great. It's become a tradition of mine to listen to that CD every year when turkey season rolls around. Nothing hunting related about the songs.
A few of the typical songs such as Fred Bear, Hung Up, Spirit of the Wild, and Seminole Wind will also be played quite frequently as the season rolls around.

Yeah Boy! It's a tradition to blast "Hung Up" before hittin the woods on opening day! :z-guntootsmiley:
I actually don't like listening to the radio at all before I go huntin. Just like thinkin about strategy and what I am gonna do. Then when I drive down the lane I roll my window down and just listen to the night :icon_thumright:
Generally listening to some older country or southern rock. This new candy @ss pop country they play nowadays makes me sick....gotta crank up some willie, waylon, kristofferson, vern, cash, paycheck, lynyrd skynyrd, the list goes on and on. I could do this all day.

I never needed any music to get me pumped up for turkey hunting.
However, while I'm driving around I usually listen to whatever I can tune in. K-Love Christian Radio would be my first choice. Country is an ok alternative as long as it isn't something completely ignorant like "I"m pretty good at drinking beer". I also like some of the 70's and 80's bands.

I also love Shad Rapp, Turkey Killer, but I can't find a video for it. Here's the lyrics, it's a GREAT song!!
I kill turkeys - that much is true,
They call me turkey killer cause o' what I do.
But it was tough, learnin', to bag a big Tom,
I didn't find out on the web on Turkey Killer.com!
I had to put in time to learn dat skill,
It took a few years before my first kill.
So if ya pay yer dues, you'll learn to see,
You can be a turkey killer - like me.
Well it was 5am and I was up and on the loose,
Had to get myself set before they came off the roost.
I was dressed like I came off an army base,
With a full camo suit and a camo-painted face.
Sneakin' through the woods like a green beret,
I found the spot I scouted last night, der hey.
I set up my blind, behind a tree,
So I could see them, but they couldn't see me -
It was spring - and all the hens were busy feeding,
But I was after gobblers that were interested in breeding!
As the sun came up, I grabbed my little helper -
A one-of-a-kind wooden mouth call yelper.
Over the years, I learned to master the call,
If there were gobblers around, I'd fool 'em all.
It might sound sneaky, and you think that I'm jerky,
But ya gotta be sly to bag yourself a big turkey!
I was sittin' in my blind as I worked my call,
In hopes to lure a big bearded Butterball.
Yelp, yelp, squeal, then a cluck, cackle, cutt -
A pit-pit pur, and a pit-purr putt.
Then onto the scene came this big daddy male,
Struttin' in a rut, and cold flashin' his tail.
Ya had to see the size of this gigantic Tommy -
His neck was as thick as a slab o' salami!
He must of heard my yelpin' and was lookin' for a mate,
But instead of a hen, that turkey met his fate.
What a trophy - the payoff for my Plannin',
So I raised up my Custom-made, Short-barreled Cannon -
Then boom - that gobbler was dead,
Four pellets in his neck, another three in his head!
I kill turkeys - and now you know it's true,
They call me turkey killer cause o' what I do.
I just listen to the early morning quiet and any wild life that is up at that time! I don't need to get pumped up. To me, hunting is relaxing and I don't have to get a turkey.

I'm a talk radio guy, so I either listen to ESPN or NASCAR on my Sirius.

None. I ride to the woods in silence, park, pour a cup of coffee, and wait till time to head out. I actually love that silent morning sit and will usually arrive 45 min to an hour before I intend to leave the truck.
On the way to the woods I'm usually listening to something of the metal/hard rock/classic rock variety: Led Zeppelin, The Nuge, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Tool, etc :you_rock:
Once I turn on the dirt road, the radio goes off, the window goes down, and I ease in and sit and enjoy the silence.
I'm with mossybird.... BLUEGRASS! look Taz is cloggin :character0029:

I listen to music a lot, have a loaded I-Pod Touch, but I just don't rock out right before going hunting. Maybe ESPN Radio just to kill time on the drive?
mudhen
AC/DC
Breaking Benjamin
Bon Jovi
Three Days Grace
When it's time to kill those jams are blastin' through the speakers.

I'm right there with you.......except for the 45 minute sit. It definitely takes all kinds to make this world go round. Other than having the radio on to help stay awake on the 1 to 2 hr drive....................I don't know..........But......
I believe most of you boys have watched one too many "Outdoor" programs. ;D
I have a Tom Kelly audio recording I often listen too as I drive to my listening spot.
