Just received my Marlin Watkins Mora over Butternut box call today and what a player. Not a lot of rasp and nice yawk in the yelp. Going through my short boxes I thought I'd post them to share.(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160922/12fea062c3cd81d5808637c22adaa1ea.jpg)

The most rasp comes from the Snakewood calls. The wormy butternut and Snakewood leads the pack. My favorite is the Bloodwood over butternut however I can tell you this new mora and butternut box is top notch. I'm thinking this will be my new favorite.
What an awesome group of calls.
Great group of boxes.. not envious at all..
That is a super collection of Watkins box calls! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

Awesome batch of calls marlin builds a great call
That Mora and Butternut is one of the best ones. The more I play it the better it sounds.
Post pictures of your Watkins calls guys
:camohat: Marlin has to be a favorite of mine. I have two fiddle paddles by him, a butternut/bloodwood and a mahogany/bloodwood. The mahogany paddle call is outstanding. He is one of the best ! You have a very nice collection of his calls, be honest, how long will it take you to choose which one goes in the vest opening day? He is a gentleman and is as nice as you can be. And who would rather see a someone shoot their first turkey called in to the gun than shoot one himself, well that speaks for itself. We should all try to introduce someone to our sport. I would put up photos of the calls but I don't know how, at my age this skill eludes me. :z-twocents:
Here's some more made by Marlin.

I know what you mean. That Mora does something. I am constantly playing the Mora over Butternut and it just gets better and better. He has really made an impact on the turkey call and hunting world to say the least.

Yes he has...He's got a great life story. I don't know if anyone is aware but he's a very successful business owner and owns a large, by eastern standards, farm that he manages for wildlife. He has a John Byrne turkey dog named Kee Kee that he loves like family. His calls develop over a six month to one year period. He tweaks them and ages them before they go to their new owner. The man is a craftsman and gentleman and a truly nice guy...
Awesome collections guys' , those calls are sweet!
great bunch of calls!
At Unicoi,Marlin always takes the time to go out into the lobby and help me pick out a call.Listening to him talk about his deferent combos and talk turkey hunting is priceless. He is truly a great gentleman. Here are my two.Bloowood over Mineral Poplar and Macassar over Persimmon

Took my mora over chestnut opening day here in NC. First time it ever saw the woods it brought in a double for me and a buddy. To say that I am impressed with Mr. Watkins calls would be an understatement!
