I started making some pot calls calls a few months ago and hit the woods with an arsenal of them this morning. I had several birds answer and move in but not enough to close the deal. I ended up shooting a bird that I called in with a mouth call - and I am pretty terrible at mouth calling. I told the guys at work that either he was tone deaf or thought the hen was dying and was coming to rescue her ;D. I had sweet visions of posting a kill with one of my calls, but this was not to be today. Talk about things not going as planned.
Good Luck,
Chris
Don't feel too bad. My first dozen pot calls sounded like hens on their last breath. Until I worked with Jack (pappy) and learned what I was doing wrong mine were just as bad. Don't give up.
I'm not saying it was my pot calls - I think they sound purdy good ;D - but this bird wasn't having any of that. He must have been into exotics - real exotics ;D
Keep trying and don't give up!
