The starting lineup for this fall is set, Lonnie Sneed Lonesome Hen, Lonnie Mabry walnut over mahogany short box and a Spring Creek padauk over cherry long box. I haven't had either of the Lonnie's calls in the field and look forward to putting them to the use they were intended. Season starts September 15 and there are plenty of fall flocks.
Add a Lonnie Gilbert and you'll have three Lonnies! I wish we had a fall season but GA hunters can't deer hunt and turkey hunt together. Too confusing for DNR I reckon. Good luck this fall Mike! That longbox would be the one I would prefer. Very nice.

Thanks Allen ! Good idea, just happen to have a Lonnie Gilbert scratcher. Our season runs from September 15 to November 14, which is the day before deer gun season opens.
Looks good and good luck.

How do they know which one you are hunting until you kill one?
You go hunting and kill a turkey, you were turkey hunting.
You go hunting and kill a deer, you were deer hunting...
It has to do with conflicting weapons and DNR harvest reports blah, blah, etc. Also GA has a very liberal deer season (like three months) and a very liberal spring turkey season (two months plus). If they overlap in the fall guys will be shooting turkeys with deer rifles and such. And trust me, down here there's a lot of guys who will never follow the rules and have no respect for the law or the future of wildlife. We can shoot two bucks and TEN does. Yes ten. We can harvest three spring gobblers. Luckily we now have a reporting system for turkeys but not much of a way to enforce it unless you get caught. The only DNR I ever see down here are hanging out at the deer processors or taxidermy shops. Not sure if that's a legal way to bust guys or not. I make sure I follow the rules regardless. It's a privilege I would rather not have taken away.
Nice arsenal. Good luck Mike!
