What is your recommendation for snake boots.
I like a 16" boot...but then again I don't like snakes and want as much coverage as possible...one thing I wish I had done was get a pair with a side zipper along with the laces...you lace it up to fit and then use the zipper to take it on and off...mine are a pain in the butt to lace and get fitted right but I don't leave home without them if I'm going into snake country
I have Danner Pronghorns and I love them. Very comfortable right out of the box, durable, well-built, and they look cool.
Danners!!!!
I've put many miles on a pair of Red Head Bayou all camo zip up snake boots this season. The most comfy pair of boots I've ever owned, they feel as cushy as Nike running shoes. Water proof as well and I've put that to the test in a few creeks.
BPS had them on sale for 79.99 in March.
I am on day 2 with my Cabela's snake boots. I wore them in the house last night and just got back from a two mile walk around town. They are comfortable so far. I hope they bring a tom in this weekend for me. I think I am going to like them. As far as lacing them up and putting them on. They are no harder to slip on than a rubber boot and the lacing up takes an extra minute. I plan on making two sets of laces. One for the top and one for the bottom.
I am currently wearing Danner Pronhorn Snake boots. They are very comfortable, lightweight, and WATERPROOF!
I have had good luck with Rocky snake boots in the past as well.
I have been using snake boots from Russell Mocassins for 5 years now with no leaks. Very comfortable, very well made, but NOT cheap. They are the best snake boots I have ever owned. I got tired of leaking boots and having to replace them after a couple of years.
Rick
Rocky Rattler Zip Snake boots with Gore Tex. 3rd season wearing them and still waterproof and comfortable as all get out.
Danner pronghorns
I have two pair, Cabelas Pinnacle (long zipper in front) I have had these for several years and have not had any problems with them, love them. This year I bought the slip on Rocky Aztecs and also like them both pair are comfortable I think you would like either.
I had these from cabelas for 3 seasons (approx 18 days hunting per) in all types of weather and they are still keeping my feet dry ! I will be buying another pair for sure.

Rocky snake boots.
Russell Moccasin Turkey Hunter boots. First pair was custom built in 94 and wore them until I had my hip replaced and leg lengthened. Would still be wearing them today if they could remove the lift they built in them for me.
I do know they work. I have been struck by both a water moccasin and a rattler. Don't care what they cost I know they work.
Got my feet measured again in 2006 @ the NWTF convention and ordered my second pair. They will last a lifetime if you take care of them.
I just finished putting the second coat of leather dressing on them. They do not leak.
They are pricey, but when you calculate that they will last a lifetime, they are cheap.
I bought a pair of Rocky snake boots spring of 2006 since my Russles would not be ready for the opener of the season. They leaked after the first week and would soak my feet after just walking through wet grass.
Here is the good part, when I finally spoke to Rocky customer service they said they build their boots for the average hunter that will wear them 8-10 times a turkey season so they should last 5 years. Well if you hunt 45 days A season you wear the boots out in one year.
