bagged a bird in Tennessee 4-2-11 went to check beard and it would fall out. i could have pulled it out a sprig at a time with out any effort. anybody ever had this happen. the bird looked normal with 3/4 spurs and weighed 17.5 lbs.
seen some chest shot that caused some to fall out.. were they pulling completely out of body or breaking
Yep, that is due to a pellet ripping through the beard near the top.

:agreed:
That's the only thing I can think of.
I had one that completely pulled off the bird once. Not sure if it got pulled too hard carrying it or what, but it completely pulled off of the bird. Luckily it happened when I was setting up some pictures.
You shot the beard off.
it happens when you shoot the beard.
Yep BB's and beards don't mix too well!

i had a bird take a few hits to the beard a few years ago. about half of it was missing when i got to him
I've pulled several off the turkey complete rather than cutting them off. It helps if it's still warm, pull hard at the base and POP it comes off in one piece without cutting. I admit I was was a little nervous the first time but I've probably done a dozen since and they're all intact.
