Title: SAW MY 1st LONGBEARD THIS SPRING!!!
Post by: quavers59 on May 23, 2016, 12:54:05 PM
This seems to be the ---year of the jakes-LOL!  I have taken 1 jake in New Jersey and another in Orange County,NY. I am seeing plenty of hens though- which is very important. I did spot a nice longbeard on unposted land that I have been hunting since 1974. Saw him at 80 yards. He would not come closer then that! I saw him at 10.45am-so I will set-up at 10am tomorrow and sleep in-:)!    Saw him moving from right to left and looking in my direction.
I was using Preston Pittman's---Black Mamba pot with carbon. Just clucks and purrs.  Glad, I bought one as I don;t see in for sale anymore.---Tomorrow!!

Good for you Brutha'!
If I were you though, I wouldn't cut it that close. He could have been messing around there for a couple of hours before you saw him. AND, it's nice being in the woods this time of year anyway...
Good luck and let us know when you get him!
Seems as though the gobblers are back in groups in South Jersey and VERY interested in any hens that might be circulating around. Get 'em excited with some cackles and excited yelps.
Like I say, good luck Brutha'!
