Title: Black Plug

Have any of you ever bought a 11-87 or 870 special purpose that came with a black magazine plug in it? I have one and it's the first I have ever seen and I've seen a lot of em'. The plug has the same wording and numbers on it as all the green ones I have seen.

My 870 sp that I bought new in '95 has a black plug. So does my 11-87 bought new in '01.

What is the length of the plug, I'm planning a dove hunt, and I don't have a plug, and want to make one from a dowel rod.

Thanks, I have a couple sticks of dowel rod in the shop, I just didn't know how long to make one.

They say the black plug is for 3.5" and green for 3"...... My 870 SM has a green plug...... I saw a post on another forum about this.....
