My son just picked one up in a trade. It's sick!! Plain old box but it runs fanfreakingtastic!! I'd love to get my hands on another.

I have an all cedar that I got from Lonnie Mabry a couple of years ago that sounds phenomenal. I played some of his with Ipe lids that sound great also  :z-twocents:

I have a cedar over butternut, I like this call a lot.
there are 3 different turkey pitches on each side---young hen to gobbler

nice clear high end down to some rasp on the low end
I hunted this call last spring and this year, if something ever happens to it I would get another

I don't know what you have to give up in trade but it is a way nice running call. I have not idea what he even charges for one. The one Andy got is not the most beautiful call. It's not poor craftsmanship by any means but it definitely looks more like all attention goes into sound. And you won't be disappointed with that quality. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I've been told that al of his boxes are a flat $50. Was told that was long or short, didn't matter. I'd love to get a long box but I'm not real sure where'd I'd carry the thing to keep it from getting broke. Darned things take up some real estate for sure but I've heard good things. I've acquired two short boxes in some deals and plan to get a new one for my dad as soon as things work out. The boxes I've got so far both have Purple Heart lids. One has Spanish cedar box while the other is walnut. Both sound great but I've got an SS box as well. It's also a Purple Heart over cedar. All of my calls stay in my vest at all times with very little changes except for the boxes. If it's calling for rain, the box comes out. When I load another box into the vest for the next hunt, I pretty much just grab whichever one touches my hand when I reach into the drawer. They all do the job just fine.
