Title: cerekote guns
Post by: darron on May 17, 2016, 12:41:52 PM
I have seen some really nice guns on here that I believe were cerekoted. If you have a gun cerekoted can you please post a pic? I am looking for ideas, especially those that are two tone or have a custom camo job. Thanks so much.

Most shops that do cerakoting will have an extensive gallery of their work so you can get a very comprehensive view of what is possible.

Ricco at Black Dove is the man when it cmes to cerakoting. He's got an artists eye in the color schemes he comes up with.

Black Dove Did this one as well.  He pays a lot of attention to detail and he is priced fair too.

No that one was dipped but I actually prefer the cerekote if I had to do it again. The dip job is amazing and I like it but i have found I like the protection and the simple yet custom look and feel of cerekote better.

just a word of advice on the cerekote.  Spend the little extra and get 2 colors.  Do a base color but do a 2nd color (usually black) on the small parts like pins ,buttons, trigger and bolt handle or top of the rib.  You will really appreciate the added small detail to the overall look.

I agree, I got a four color tiger stripe camo on my M2 and I love it.  I recommend Ricco at Black Doves Custom to everyone that is thinking about cerakote.

Yes it is possible. I have read where several guys on other hunting forums have done this for added protection.

The problem with doing it over a dip is if the dip starts to flack or peel it will do the same to the cerekote.

Makes sense, but it is possible to do. It may not be advised, and I can understand why if what you say is true about it flaking/peeling.

Agreed it is possible but I would highly recommend not to do it.  Sandblasting it off is not hard to do for most good cerekote shops.

I just dropped my old SBE 1 off to be cerakoted a couple days ago.  Im in SW Ohio and am using toms custom guns in Wilmington ohio.   I am getting a 5 color cerakote in a Multicam pattern.  I am excited to see how it turns out.  It is only costing me slightly more over dipping for a 5 color cerakote.
