Post by: otinhunter on May 16, 2016, 01:49:24 AM
Looking to possible hunting Michigan next year and have no idea where to start. I'm looking for help on what public area would be a good starting point to look into too. I know tags are different than what I am used too and there is alot of public land. Any help would be greatly appreciated and please PM me if your willing to help
Thanks

The southern half of the lower peninsula will have the highest population of birds. Most of our seasons are in 7 day blocks starting april.18 - may.31. Most areas in the southern lower do have a season that runs may.9 - may.31 giving you a bit more time. I would recommend the later season, i have never had good luck hunting early.I know there is lots of public land in lapeer and Tuscola counties. You can see where these areas are located by looking athttps://www.michigan.gov/documents/.../Spring_Turkey_Digest_443091_7.. I hope this helps.

I don't think the May season, hunt 234, is valid on public land in southern MI.
