I am going to set up a turkey gun with a scope. Ant recommendation's?
Nikon turkey reticle
I like mine. Adjustable 1-4x and the reticle is designed to fit a turkey head/neck area at 40 yards. So kind of a built in range device.
Bushnell trophy or banner with the circle x reticle is what i use on a few of my turkey shotguns.
My brother has a Simmons pro diamond 4x he loves it. Got it off Amazon for $60
I'm thinking of picking up one myself.
I have a couple of Simmons and knock on wood, I haven't had an issue with them.
Get the best optics you can afford and don't skimp on the mounting system. Turkey gun recoil can wreck havoc on both.
I'll second what others have said on the circle reticle. I've found it easier to get a quick target acquisition on a moving bird vs. a standard crosshair.

I've got another thread going where I'm trying to decide between a scope and a red dot. If I go the scope route I'm going to get the Leupold VX-1 Shotgun/Muzzleloader 1-4x20mm with Turkey Plex reticle.

Excellent choice. You can't go wrong with a Leupold.

I'm waffling between a scope and red dot. Why do you guys prefer a scope?
If I did it all over I'd get a red dot.
Once this year I went to take aim on bird and my breath fogged up the scope glass. Red dot would be far enough forward to have had that one avoided.
I like the scope, but that was a costly and bad timing issue.

Personally, and I know scopes can fail, I don't like having to worry about electronics failing, a dead battery, having to turn it on, etc. That's just me though. I know the red dots have a huge following and batteries last years, so it is just my own timid nature towards trying them again. I went the FastFire route and couldn't warm up to it, though I know I'm in the minority there. I've shot scoped rigs off and on for about 20 seasons, and while I don't shoot them exclusively, I've killed a bunch of birds in different situations with them. Until last spring I have never gotten in a situation where I felt handicapped with one either.
My main scoped rig shoots really tight and I just like being able to precisely aim where I want the center of my pattern to be delivered. And the circle crosshair reticle has proven effective shooting moving birds too. I guess you could just say I'm used to it.
Different strokes for different folks though.
I ordered the AR FF III today. If I don't like it I'll find a use for it and get the Leupold scope. The FastFire only cost me $143.60 so I could even sell it at a profit if needed. The scope will be less than $150.00 too.
