I just got back from just west of Austin. I heard a lot of gobbling adn saw a lot of turkeys, but they were all henned up. i watched a group of 8-9 jakes all together with hens and a group of 4 longbeards all together with hens across the river from the property I was hunting. It has been extremely dry down there and the birds have not appeared to have split up. Some people beleive the hens are not nesting because it is so dry and are waiting for better conditions. I did end up shooting a super jake with a 5" beard, but never had a long beard closer than 150 yards. Oh well, still had a good time.
