Title: 535 custom choke suggestions
Post by: skimerhorn on May 09, 2016, 09:32:47 AM
I want to get a really good choke for my 535 to pair with a vortex sparc 2. I'm thinking about a jebs or a rhino? Anybody know any other good ones to try or if a jebs or rhino is better? I've never got any of them but I want to really make my gun shoot better and get it dialed in during the off season coming up. Thanks

my opinion...both chokes are overpriced for what you will get. There are a lot of other options that will get you there a whole lot cheaper.

I've had several 535s and currently have one with a turkey and waterfowl barrel set. They are excellent shotguns and capable of throwing some great patterns. You might be interested in this recent article http://allaboutshooting.com/blogs/blog about getting your shotgun ready for the next season.

As far as chokes, the JEB's is an excellent one. It's a finely made product with excellent internal geometry and patterns very well with a variety of shotshell loads.

Good luck as you "Extend Your Season" at the range.

Thanks,
Clark

I believe I'll go with the jebs, any suggestions on which size choke to get?

After trying numerous chokes in my 535, I have finally settled on a Pure Gold.  It hasn't come out of my gun in close to 5 years.  It's not to say you won't get better patterns with some of the ones you mentioned or other companies not mentioned yet.  For me, it throws a nice even pattern with plenty enough density at typical turkey distances.

Most of my readers who've ordered them get the .650 and are happy with that. A few get the .655 and they seem to do very well also.
