Title: 5/1 Indiana Turkey
Post by: varmint101 on May 03, 2016, 12:05:16 PM
It was a beautiful morning out in the turkey woods today! I started out with light fog and lots of gobbles, but nothing coming in. I started walking and trying to strike up a conversation with no takers. Just as I was about to get to my destination my destination found me when it gobbled back! After a quick setup and 40 minutes of can you hear me now? I look over and here come four jakes with their necks stretched out looking like they were doing something bad. They spy my Avian X Jake and take off for a beat down! They proceed to wing smack my decoy off the stake while fight purring at my decoy. I needed separation as they were too close together when one jumped on top of the Jake and that was all I needed. I figured one in the hand is better than two in the bush! 20 yard shot with my TC Encore and that was it. Thank the good Lord for a beautiful day!

FYI, I was using Winchester's XR Longbeard in #5 shot. It wouldn't shoot for beans out of my Beretta with current choke, but my Encore I just traded for shoots very well with them to at least 40yds.  Loving that Encore too. A lot of muzzle rise, but what a dream tote around and with the flextech stock recoil isn't horrible.

Also, my Hooks mouth call is 4/4 now and my AvianX jake 3/3.  They've worked great for me!
