Seems I have a knack for killing Gobblers with hens. Seasons out in FL. but I got my limit. Our season runs when hens are with Gobblers. You here 3-4 gobbles a morning. Lot of hunters give up. But if you can get close to the Hen and Gobbler, the Hen will come and you know what follows.
Yup, killed them same way...
Lucky bum. Hasn't been the case here at all. It's been a struggle all season and unless I can manage to get one to cooperate before work this week, it seems I'll be eating my tag. Oh well, that's hunting. Glad you did well.
I will say yes and no. Sometimes if your close you can call them in. Other times not so much. This has been my experience anyways. I have been within 60 yards of birds on the ground and made a few yelps and the hen immediately moves away taking the tom with her. This seems to happen more at peak breading more than any other time. However it is the best odds in town short of getting under the roost and busting them as soon as their feet hit the ground. That's not my style so I prefer to stay back if I can help it.
Think I'm leaning towards busting the next one soon as his feet hit the ground. :TooFunny:
Could've done that twice already this year if needed. Decided to play nice. It's been a rough season but I'm still enjoying it.
I don't know what it is, but the majority of my birds for the past few year's have been Gobblers with hen's. Getting close, hen's getting pissed. Public hunting ground as well.
