Title: Finally getting it done in North MS
Post by: DawgsFan1 on April 23, 2016, 01:55:26 PM
Have had a rough season. Seemed every move I made at start of season was the wrong move. Then the birds went silent. Haven't heard hardly a gobble for three weeks. Knew the birds were there but they just wouldn't cooperate.
Was able to get a hunt in Wednesday morning before work. And I'm sure glad I did. The Lord provided a nice two year old bird right before the bottom fell out. All the pictures of him he's soaking wet. He had an 8-3/4" beard and 7/8" spurs.
Then this morning got on two longbeards that were tearing it up from the roost. Headed out towards them and as I was closing in another one sounded off a good bit closer to me. Sure glad he did because I surely would have bumped him because I was headed straight for him. About 6:30 all three of them come in. The Lord blessed me again with another fine bird, 10" beard and 1" spurs.
It had been a frustrating season until this week. Funny how things can change so quick.
