Title: Done in Ohio
Post by: Izz74 on April 23, 2016, 09:28:56 AM
Shot this nice bird yesterday morning, it was a short hunt but a great one. 1st gobbles started at 6:00 then I heard the dreaded boss hen start her yelping. I gave a couple soft yelps they gobbled back but she got much more aggressive and they really liked that. I started to get louder got out my box call did a couple cuts, a Jake that had been silent sounded off not more than 50yds.away on the roost. I was worried he was gonna see me if I continued using it, so I just used the mouth call. 1 gobbler Jake and hen were going the opposite way of me now, but one was gobbling and getting closer I just kept silent and let him hunt me. 5 minutes later he appeared to my left halfway down the hill moving quickly I could not get on him very good, finally gave a couple yelps he stopped 21 yds.
1 1/8 inch spurs 10 1/4 inch beard 21.20 lbs.
