I had 4 possibly even 6 different longbeards in a field this morning on 3 different occasions, 2 at 6:50, 3 at 7:00 and a single at 11 o'clock and never fired a shot. Birds wouldn't answer a call and would hardly even glance at my DSD jake and hen dekes.
Go figure...but that's why it's called HUNTIN'!
Oh, I will go back to that spot again :)
It has been pretty much the same way in West Tenn.. our place is covered up with hens. Very hard to work a bird with all these hens. But we have to keep trying..
Well, good luck next time out man.
Stay on em.
I know how you feel, I had two of them fight each other Monday at 90ish yarxs and still couldn't close the deal.
Like you said, ain't nothing guaranteed! But the fact that we keep going at em even though the success rate is pretty low at times proves that we really do love the hunt and not just the kill! Some of the best stories I ever heard, or ever told, didn't end with a dead bird. Best of luck with the rest your season!
Good luck and keep at it!
Been there, experienced that!! Keep after 'em!! :icon_thumright:
