Title: MO Longbeard
Post by: Spring Creek Calls on April 18, 2016, 04:05:05 PM
Shot a good MO longbeard this morning, 20 lbs. 9" beard and 1 1/4" spurs. This year I'm only hunting with the calls I've bought from other callmakers or calls I've picked up on OG. This bird fell for a Southland slate in a walnut pot using a Halloran persimmon striker. Gonna be a long week till next Monday but I still have a Kansas tag.

Good job Mike.  I find it hard to pick what calls to put in my vest on any given day.  When I realized I was carrying four different Mabry calls I decided to change them out to give others a chance!  Good luck in Kansas.

It's a Model 1300. I replaced the black stock and forend with the wood parts you see. The corncob forend has a lot of people asking if it's a Model 12. I do have a Model 12 that's taken a bunch of turkeys but the 32" barrel is a load in the woods. Thanks for asking!

Congrats Mike  :icon_thumright:
I shot a 24 lb 9" beard 1" spur Mo. bird yesterday.
OG calls only for me too.
But i will use your calls for ya , don't you worry.
Black walnut with maple sides short box of yours and pappy's birdseye maple- ceremic pot did the trick.

Congratulations to you also! That one turkey only in the first week is a killer, long wait until next Monday.

Congrats.  Nice to pick em up and see hooks like that.  My Missouri opener bird had identical spurs.
