I think some people need to take a deep breath. This forum is known for its friendliness and good solid folk. I'm not sure why but many recent threads are met with someone either trying to make another member feel inferior or "wrong" in their opinion or just cyber flexing their ego. I for one can't understand why people feel the need to "best" another. Express an opinion, answer a question, move on but don't target others and make them feel stupid if you have conflicting opinions of their post. Disagreement is fine and normal and prospers growth of knowledge, but keep it there and leave the negativity out of it. It's called being a big boy and some people should try it.
Yep. I agree completely.

Now thats funny, bu it may be true
Was there some kind of mass falling out before the season? Seems like way less traffic on here than years past... success threads would be 3 or 4 pages deep with responses now it's like nobody cares...

I agree as well. I've pretty much ignored any other forum since finding this one because of that very reason. The bickering between internet tough guys gets old quick.

LMAO.
If you think this is bad, don't go to Archerytalk. Old Gobbler is VERY mild compared to AT. I will agree that things seem to be a little more negative than usual. I think it's just that time of year....people down south are killing and posting pics of birds. A lot of us up north are still waiting for opening morning......Frustration???
Yes indeed .......we don't put up with that here , this isn't one of those badly run bow hunting , or waterfowl hunting forums. , we have one rule here BE NICE
I deleted some posts already , and made some observations........
I can spot a troublemaker 4 times farther than most people can hear a gobble , i could ....write a book on Internet tough guys and know it alls , the Internet is full of punk 19 year olds or people who act like it , archery and water fowling forums are full of these types , where the troublemakers set up shop and run everyone with their know it all negativity ...... Ive seen it all ! So if your trying to stir the pot , save yourself the trouble , I will throw you off ,AND YOU WONT GET BACK ON
If anyone .....sees any posts that don't meet the BE NICE policy pm me privately and I will handle it in a private and SWIFT manner as always ,
I've seen some crankiness recently , I'll chalk it up to some sort of pre or post season traumatic syndrome / cabin fever
Thank you all for your patience and understanding --- Be safe , and good huntin !-- Shannon

And those of us with open season and not killing birds are even more frustrated!
I have noticed a couple of off-hand comments, but not as many as on other forums...
I think that sometimes tone and inflection cannot be expressed, and a dry or sarcastic comment can be taken incorrectly. Then again, some people are just jerks.

This is so true! This forum is still way better than archery talk as far as friendly goes
I'm going with the previous statement about some people killing birds already while others are waiting for their season to begin. Then, some of realize that our season is starting tomorrow and there's not a darned thing we can do about it until closer to the weekend so some other clown(s) get to muddy the waters before we get a crack at it. Then, some of us took their 9 y/o neice hunting Saturday for youth day and put her in a position that she could practically touch the bird with the gun barrel (<15') and watched her "whiff" twice on birds that we'd loved to have been toting back to the truck. Did that sound bitter? Wasn't supposed to. Lol.
Honestly, some people just can't handle the success of others nor can they find the juevos (not sure I spelled that correctly) to just be kind.
LOL..Yep...it's turkey season.

Calm down there a bit Rodney.
Been away for awhile. Kind of stopped following other forums but found my way back here again. I've always liked this one. Even won a nice trumpet several years back in one of the off season games that I continue to use. Good people here most of the time. We all have bad days.
there's usually a few grumps around here that think everyone needs to hunt the way they do, but for the most part the people around here are a class act I have phone number for multiple guys to trade sound files and whatnot back and forth. I'd never give out my number on archery talk lol

I'm guilty of ignoring most of the "I got one" threads. Partly because our season just opened and partly because, honestly most dead gobblers look alike. I guess I should at least reply with a word of congrats. One day left in Iowas season 1 and it looks like I'll be posting a picture of my unused tag. I'm expecting lots of sympathy from you guys. Get ready to fire up the keyboards.
Yeah, I don't understand the hostility. The way I see things, if you don't like a style of hunting, don't do it!!! Seems pretty simple to me. I don't understand when guys rag on other guys about using decoys, or blinds, or fanning, or whatever the case may be. The way I see it is, if it's legal, and you want to do it, go for it!! Not everyone has the same opportunities in terms of time to hunt, good places to hunt, ability to travel, etc. A person that has lots of opportunities can afford to increase their challenges if they want, but I see no reason to criticize anyone for employing a legal method of hunting.
Kumbaya!!! ;) ;D

It's the new and old generations hunters of turkey hunters clashing.
Not all of us by into the use of technology to make the process easier nor do we all believe that just because something is legal that it's ethical.
As far as less traffic, a lot of the diehards have moved to other forums that are more "purist" in their mentalities.
"Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seed that you plant. Don't judge anyone for the way they hunt it's just foolish..good hunting

Legal sets the boundaries of your choices. Ethics are a personal choice. What you think it ethical and what others think is ethical can be completely different. Ethics are a personal choice. Who is to say if your style or my style of hunting is ethical? You? Me? Someone else? No. It's a personal choice based on the way you were raised and taught. The game warden is the one who says if you were hunting
legally or not.

 ;D :TooFunny: :TooFunny: :TooFunny:
Some folks were overboard. Some of us question whether a legal practice is ethical. A few of us question if a legal practice should remain legal for a variety of reasons. I don't think someone is a bad person because they used a technique I believe shouldn't be legal, and I'm certainly not judging because I've done it myself. If someone has no room in their psyche for such a discussion, I'd assume they have a closed mind.
Regards from someone who has had a wealth of time and ground to hunt at times, but has only hunted three times this season; once private in youth season, and twice public for myself. My son killed a bird over a hen decoy during youth, and I missed one day and killed another on my two public days with no decoy at all. I have no private ground now, and family obligations limit my time.

Preach it Shannon!!
It'a weird season. People all over are having a hard time due to low numbers of cobblers. The grumpiness usually subsides when everyone starts pulling theirtriggers, but such is less common this year.
:morning: BEST SITE GOING!!! :camohat:

I have a closed mind but I do my best to keep my thoughts inside it as there ain't many left who will listen.
Reminds me I left what was once the biggest waterfowl site because of the smarty-pants that had to argue with everything posted. Ownership changed and it wasn't the same after that anyhow. Funny because I support and buy from the new owners, so I don't feel the decline was their fault. Seems forums kinda lose their zing after a while. What I've seen here is more like the spats between brothers who don't agree sometimes. Maybe I've missed the bad stuff.
