I'd recommend you look into the boys at SS. I'll bet there will be at least half dozen more people chime in before this is all said and done to tell the same.

The SS advice is good. Great calls, you can't beat em. While you're at it order a scratch box too

They sound very natural yet different from other calls. May have something to do w the way they're played but the rhythm can be slightly different as well.
Great calls for soft talking yet they too can be played more aggressively. Best few bucks you ever spent and running them can be addicting, hunting em adds more to your arsenal

There are a couple distinct advantages to purchasing a custom call...  Here are the two that top my list

1.   Quality of the call and the sound (from the right call-maker).
2.   Being able to custom order not only the wood, but the sound that the call produces.

I have enjoyed talking to the call makers and telling them what type of birds I hunt and the sound I would like out of the call (i.e. high-pitched front end and raspy back end).  Generally they will give me some choices of wood for the sound I want, and I usually end up going with their recommendations.

Were it me, I would call and talk to someone at the company, tell them what you want, and have them "custom" make it for ya...

While I'm not bow guy, I'll second what he said. I can get some serious volume out of it if I need to as well. Sometimes a bird responds to wood better than anything else. If calling birds for others, it also requires less movement than a box to operate too. What he said is spot on too. Mine will remain in my vest for some time to come.

Thanks for all of the advice. However I am still in the market for a Dixie Darlin box call made by Heart of Dixie Game Calls. Anybody got any leads on where I can find one.

Thanks.

I appreciate that. Unfortunately Jerry does not make them anymore, so I am relegated to finding an existing box.

I do have an email in to Kris from HoD Game Calls to see if he has any leads on one. The search continues.
