Title: Youth day success....

She is 3 for 3 on youth day birds, this being her first longbeard.

We got an invite to a prime property, I stepped foot on the piece for the first time earlier in the week to get an idea of where to go.

We got there plenty early and the spot we picked was right on....had birds hammering all around us, and I've never heard such vocal hens!  They were everywhere!!

First thing we had 8 Jakes come in, gobbling at every sound I made, while this longbeard stayed on a hill about 80 yds away strutting and gobbling..he eventually walked off as the jakes were circling the decoys. (They never committed to the decoys, stayed about 30yds out.)

The jakes finally moved off....I changed calls, and got aggressive....they were losing their stuff gobbling at everything I threw at them....hens were going nuts too behind us!

Then this guy started gobbling and came back, marched straight to the decoys and got himself killed!

She put an arrow thru him at 20 yds, he flopped in his tracks!

Crossbow bird, no blind...

All her birds were shot with the crossbow....and no blind.

That's how I do it, but I use the vertical bow ;)

I don't think she realizes just how difficult it is, we've had a few come in and not stick around for a shot, but that's the fun of it.....when it works, it makes it extra special!
