Title: Saw just about everything this week!
Post by: bbcoach on April 15, 2016, 08:12:41 PM
I saw just about everything this week during the first week of the NC turkey season.  I hunted the same area all week.  Monday morning no gobbling and no birds.  Tuesday morning, birds everywhere with a bird down at 7:20 am.  Wednesday morning, a few gobbles and a few birds but nothing to brag about.  Thursday morning, called in a hot tom from about 500 yards away but he popped out of cover at about 10 yards only to spot a green blob.  He hopped back in the cover and continued to gobble his head off at 40 yards for the next 15 minutes with no shot.  This morning, very little gobbling with no sightings until 8:50.  3 hens and 2 jakes with the jakes taking advantage of my virgin Avian X feeding hen and then staying around for the next 2 hours for some rest and a cigarette.  Some days were better than others but the worst day hunting is better than the best day working.  Good Luck to all with their seasons.

Sounds fun! Congrats. (I would LOVE to know...where is that "switch", and who turns it on and off from one day to the next?)

If anyone finds the SWITCH, I'll buy one.  It has been a SWEET week!

It's good that you got to see something.
