Title: 30th Anniversary Missouri Hunt
Post by: Meadow Valley Man on April 12, 2016, 09:08:12 AM
Next week I will be heading for the Ozarks of Missouri.  I first made the trip with my late father in 1986.  I killed a jake the first day of our hunt, and in 1987 Dad and I tagged out.  Dad killed his last Missouri gobbler in 2001, at the age of 83. He passed away the following March. During our years in Missouri we have made many friends, and now the hunt is like a family reunion.  I can't wait!

Nothing like them screaming turkeys from the Ozarks. Wouldn't trade it for nothing.

Enjoy the hunt and the memories. Is Missouri where you met Dan Harris? Ask him about some of his early calls that I have if you see him next week. Jerry H.

Good luck to you. Of all the places I've chased them, the MO Ozarks still ranks as one of my favorites. Nothing like hearing one of those big birds drumming on a big hardwood ridge.

Good luck and I am sure many of those memories that you and your dad had made with those folks will be shared a great deal this year. I am betting that your dad is looking down and getting ready to take place in the hunt right along next to you.

I'm sure your dad will be there watching over you. This will be my 26th year the  Ozarks. My father in-law started going 37 years ago. It is a great time, I get to spend two weeks with him. Hunting, fishing and drinking beer. I know there will
come a day when I make the trip without him. And that will be a sad day.

Where do you hunt??

Thanks, guys, for the kind words and best wishes.  I do feel my Dad's presence in those hills and hollows.  Dad was 66 when he first hunted turkeys, and we spent seventeen great years chasing them together. Good luck to all of you this spring!

Very cool to have 30 years of tradition to look back on.
We need to organize an OG ozark meet up. Lotta members are gonna be running around. I'll be in Texas and Dent counties.
Nothing beats springtime in the Ozarks. Just 5 days to go! Good luck!
