Title: No Hunting for Me This Spring

It is really tough but there will be no turkey hunting for me this spring. I had hunts scheduled in 5 states that I had to cancel. I was diagnosed with a serious medical condition earlier and had surgery on March 29th. It will be a while before I am back on my feet. Two of my grandkids came to see their Pawpaw today and if that does not give you reason to scratch and fight then nothing will. I will spend a lot of time on here and wish each of you fun, success, and safety while being out in God's creation. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks.....

Hang in there! You may have missed this spring's turkey season, but there's always next year. This time last year, I was nursing a broken right ankle and was fortunate enough to have an understanding wife who carried my decoys and shotgun across a 20-acre field in the morning dark  while I followed behind on a walker. An hour later, she carried the gobbler back to the truck while I struggled back with the remainder of the equipment on that same walker. So...hang in there and look forward to other hunting seasons that you'll be able to pursue in the near future!

Praying for your full recovery. Grandkids are the best medicine for a lot of ailments. Take it easy, enjoy them and get better. You can always make up for the lost hunting time when you're feeling better. I wish you and yours the best. :icon_thumright:

Sorry to hear that.  I sucks to have something go wrong medically, and sucks even more when it happens during the hunting season...

Godspeed to a quick recovery.  I had to miss most of last season due to an injury.  When I did get out, it was very limited.  Made me appreciate this season all the much more.  Bounce back and whack some next year!!!

I sure hope you get to feeling better. I know how you are feeling I am still in a lot of pain with my neck. I will pray for you.  If you feel like it, it does the body good to go stand in the cool air and listen to an Old Tom hammering on the ridge.

Echoing the best wishes sentiment of others here.  Getting "up there" a bit myself (mid-sixties), you begin to wonder each spring if you are going to be healthy when the seasons roll around.  Godspeed, my friend.

Rickey, I missed this somehow.   I really hate to hear you're missing the season but more so that you're having health problems.  Prayers have been sent and will continue to be sent.  Enjoy the grandkids this season and get well for the next.

Wishing you well brutha'...I guess that's everybody's nightmare to have to sit out a season. I missed this last snowboard season due to an injury. Looks like I'll manage to make turkey season alright...I feel for ya' and wish you a speedy and full recovery...

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. I have been out on a pretty good walk this morning and feeling better each day. It is just a blessing to be out in God's creation.
