Title: How do you know ?
Post by: ilbucksndux on April 08, 2016, 04:42:51 PM
I hear this all the time.........."I've been hunting this bird for three years and........" How do you know its the same bird ? I hunt several of the same places every year, and typically birds roost/hang out in the same areas every year but how do you KNOW that its the same bird that has been giving you the slip all that time ?

Because it makes for a better story.

Used to go to the Bahamas every year and there was always a barracuda we tried to catch but could never get a bite.  We said it was the same one every year because he was in the same area and locations but the truth of the matter is it was a very good spot for a Cuda and there probably were several in the area.  When we finally caught him we said we have been chasing him for 5 years, but chances are this was a brand new one.

Barring unique physical features, which are rare on Turkeys imo, there really is no way to tell.  They have legs, they have wings, they move.
