Title: Fixed modified

What kind of pattern can I expect from my H&R 20 gauge with fixed mod choke at 40 yards? I'm shooting the Federal heavyweight #7.

I shot an H and R 20, and with a modified fixed barrel with the 3-1.5-7's at 30 yards, and my results were less than spectacular.
I won't take it to the woods with that shell.
Now with the 2 3/4" federal Heviweight, it was fine out to 25 yards. This is what my daughter will take for the NH opener. Just limit her shots to 25 yards and under.
Hopefully, you will have better luck!

I shot mine with the Federal premium #6 and it did great at 30. I am getting about 90 to 100 in the 10. I thought the 7s would be good a little farther. I will shoot them and see.

Stay at 30 yards and you will be fine. I have killed a few using 20 gauge mod but that was in early 70s and using #4s then #6s in lead and never let one get by but they were all under 30 yards.
