Title: Absolutely skunked!
Post by: MouthCaller on April 02, 2016, 10:18:13 AM
For the first time since I moved to Tennessee 10 years ago I didn't hear a single gobble opening morning. Got to the place that has produced several gobblers for me the past 5 or 6 years and it was a barren wasteland... No acorn crop last fall could be the blame I wish I had the time or energy to scout it properly but my idea of fun isn't scaling 3/4 of a mountain. Probably should have but just relied too much on years past. The day started out great it was between 52-55 degrees with overcast but once the sun came up and the overcast broke it dropped nearly 10 degrees in an hour! Hopefully everybody else in TN is having some luck but it seems like there aren't any turkeys in Tennessee! LOL

I heard a couple gobblers before daylight and a few hens yelping but they went down the wrong side of the ridge.

Came as close as you can without pulling the trigger. Lots of gobbling this morning

I would've felt much better about today had I at the very least heard one... tomorrow is another day

Clear and cool here in MS this morning.  I got one 8 mins after he flew down. Then the north wind got rough for the rest of the day. Didn't hear another bird on my way out .

My cousin in North east ms said he got on a longbeard with 2 Jakes and some hens but couldn't make it happen. Not much gobbling.
