I was thinking about the sureshot is there a better stock out there and what would make it better. Getting ready to put a build together.
I have the shurshot and I love it. I shoot with either hand and it's perfect for that. I know a lot of people like the tactical style, but I've never used one of those. I really like the cheek piece on the sure shot for using a scope also.

If your thinking about that one for a 20 ,you might get to looking now, they can be hard to find.
I have both the tactical and the SurShot ,,, i like the SurShot stock a lot better...same with using a scope..You want the SurShot 19533 for the 20 ga. youth.
Shur Shot for me with FF3
Very comfortable and balanced
Great thanks guys I had seen the same things a few builds with the tactical stock. I have an 1187 supermag w the sureshot and love it. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing the boat on a better option.
My sureshot lines up terribly, I shimmed it w rubber but it still isn't right. Thinking of cutting/grinding it down at an angle? Anyone have any better solutions?
What are you trying to put the stock on...trash2....I have one on a youth 21 in.. 20 ga...and its great....
Itonight im taking my surshot off and putting the normal stock back on. The surshot is a bit awkward when using a sling and walking a lot. Going back to the sleek and slim of regular stock.
You couldn't give me two regular stocks for a ShurShot stock just because of the Thumbhole. I have no problem with a sling on the gun and walking..but i'm 6 ft. tall. Thumbhole is the only way to go with a red dot or scope..

It's an early 90s youth 20ga with 21" barrel. Without shimming it I could look down the barrel from the receiver forward. Not sure how to correct it, might be due to vented rib from a bit of research?
Sure shot if your using optics but collapsible stock with open sights
If you go with a tactical stock I'm building this one with a Phoenix Technologies (kick lite) kit.
I built an 870 20ga slug gun once and used a Monte Carlo Remington 760 stock. Worked perfect and bolted right up
Just throwing this out there, Mesa tactical makes an adapter called the lucy adapter, that lets you use stocks for 12 ga 870's on 20 ga 870's. Supposed to work great. They also make some awesome looking pistol grip stocks with and without adjustable cheek piece.
I really like the urbino stock from Mesa. Almost wish I'd searched for the Lucy adapter now. I do like the Phoenix in that it's recoil reducing. My grandson will appreciate that as I'm not recoil sensitive.
I put a boyds thumbhole stock for a rem 760 on mine. Dad order the stocks but didn't like them after he got them installed. I ran across them one day and asked what his plans were for them. Since he didn't have any I pulled the stock off my 870 youth and it fit perfectly. Needless to say, you can't use the forearm but I didn't really care about that anyways.

Link to ones that fit 870. I'm not sure that it'll fit the youth. I'm pretty sure the receiver is smaller. I know the stock for the 760 is a little small for the 870 SM receiver, but will fit the 870 youth perfectly.
I have a browning bps and I think I'm going to order the woodland camo set for it from boyds.
Sureshot for my 1187 20 gauge. Knoxx recoil reducing for my son's 870. Don't think they make the 20 gauge anymore.
I have a Knoxx on my gun. Can't say that I like the tactical look, but I like that the stock will adjust to fit someone my size (6' 4") and I can move it all the way forward for a kid to use as well.
Just put a Sure Shot on my youth model 20. I like the feel but it is best suited for something other than the bead sights as the comb is very high. I found a set of Williams Universal Slugger sights that I forgot I had and put them on and it is perfect. I will get it drilled/tapped for a 336 base and FF after our season is over, which the high comb should make for a perfect fit. Would be a perfect stock for optics but not so for beads.

Shot it Friday night at the range & I like it a lot! It has some recoil reduction but it really fits good & it's adjustable. Great stock!!!
Here's a pic of the phoenix stock. Great customer service from them btw!
