Title: anybody else had issues with the longbeards crimp?
Post by: boyhowdy on March 28, 2016, 08:37:35 PM
3.5 inch #4's....I've had two crimps 'break' (the plastic breaks) while cycling shells unloading....pieces of plastic and a few loose shot are getting into the action...this is out of a box of shells I bought this year, and I didn't see this problem last year....anybody else seeing this?

No problems here. I've bought 2 boxes of 3.5" #4 and one box of 3" #6

I've probably put a few hundred of them down range out of various shotguns and never ever had and issue with any of them. Was they came in damaged? Take pictures and let Winchester know.

Had the same problem last year. Called Winchester, they asked me to send some back so they could see and asked for lot number. They send me a check for new box

No problems for me with LB's.  Hevi 13 that is a whole different story.

thanks for the replies....sorry I didn't take pics, I chunked both shells...I've got the rest of the box and I cycled them through my gun without any problems....I still don't trust that box of shells though and am glad to hear this is not a widespread issue, I'll buy another box out a different lot

I was just looking at the crimps on mine this weekend and thankful they were better made than the Hevis

2 different issues that are unrelated. Hevis do lose their sealer sometimes but the LB's are loosing pieces of the frangible crimp. Most times you hear of it, its a shell in the mag tube that fractures during the firing of another shell.
Its been mentioned on here quite a bit....

Has been 2 or 3 threads about this back starting around May-June 2015?
Benneli jammed up and temporarily OOC because if it.
Seems to happen most in magazine tubes , but some light fingertip pressure on the overshot card can pop a few loose.
Have opened a box and found a quarter of one gone, it was in the box.
