Not for me...20 ga. is as small as i'm going...

??? Maybe someone else on the Realtree crew will "man up" and just grab the next one with bare hands...
He could've just punched the gobbler in the face. Maybe next time he'll use a sling shot. PATHETIC!!!!!
That was self defense!
Honestly, he patterned his gun, knew his maximum range and made a fast, ethical kill.
2.5 yards ain't much of a range, but he held to it. I'm not a fan of reaping, but that was impressive.
Let me spin you a story from about 20 years ago ......I was walking back to camp while bow hunting , I ran into a unwanted friend of a friends nephew , I walked up from behind him On a trail going through a clearing ( name withheld) was chucking arrows from a hundred yards away at a fallen oak tree stump ...several arrows ......I go " censored name , what the ---- are you doing ? He replied " I'm shooting at that hog right there " ....I go that's a tree stump you dumb ....and I walked away ....that was the last time I ever hunted that area , and even remotely associated with anybody who was friends with anybody from that camp
how long until someone holding a gobbler decoy in their left arm runs into a person like that ?
There's idiots out there , look how many voted for Obama , I rest my case
I'll agree with that but I must say, that was still impressive. I'm betting they're on some high fence patrolled farm that is a bit selective about who's in camp that week. Maybe not but I'd bet that to be the case.

LOL. Twice actually.
Quite a paradox some of you guys are....
He patterned his gun. Knew it's limits and held to it. I say awesome job. Who am i or anyone else for that matter to tell him what is ethical and what is not?
Too close. Too far. :z-dizzy:
Some of you guys need to spend more time in the woods with the rest of us that hunt vs patronizing us with your own predetermined limits.
It was fun to watch. That's up close and personal! lol
Lol...i have a had a .410 judge...i shot it quite a bit it was 3 in...that would be about as far as I would shoot a turkey with it...it would not be for me lol

My quandary is more with the methodology in which he makes the kill. A few more steps and a baseball bat would have sufficed. Ethical? That is to be determined within your own boundaries. At what point does it move from ethical harvest of game to a gimmick?
I agree, he was responsible enough to establish an effective lethal limit of his choice of weapon, and he stuck to it, and was within his legal right to do so; therefore I won't judge him on that. Is it more or less offensive than the hunter that excitedly claims a 70 yard kill with a shotgun? I would say "no". And let's face it, dead is dead.
Patronizing?? No, just more of a comment. We hunt also...
:camohat:
I am kind of surprised at the backlash to this. This gentleman patterned his legal weapon, determined his maximum killing range, and he stuck to it. that turkey was stone dead with a legal weapon. Kudos to him!
Its legal so good for him. Not my style but I don't care how others hunt.
I think it would be pretty cool to do myself. Up close and personal and result was a dead turkey.

If he were sitting against an old oak tree and shot that gobbler at 2.5 yards with an 870, no one would say a word about it, LOL.
You make a good point. Still think what he did was foolish and purely for showmanship and now leaves an impression with young beginner hunters who are all over youtube and view it that this is an acceptable method of killing a turkey. They fail to mention that they are doing this on a piece of property that has a target rich environment and has tightly regulated hunter numbers. Willing to bet he wasn't doing this on a piece of public ground. Its realtree so you know they are using an outfitters property, hunting TV wouldn't be viewed much if they had to do it where the average hunters goes.

I for one DO CARE how others hunt because I would like to come home without a bullet wound or shotgun pellets in my body or dead. We should all care about how others hunt, I have a family that would like for me to come home each day.

I've always wanted to try reaping as they call it. Looks like it would be incredibly exciting to get that close to a longbeard and then take him. At least the guy found his range and stuck to it. Dead bird. I enjoyed watching the video.
For those of you that have been around here a while, you know my opinion when it comes to differing techniques. If it's legal, and it makes you happy, go for it!! What I find ethical, others may not. What I find enjoyable, others may not. What methods I choose to employ, others may not. Don't like it? Then don't do it!! Pretty simple!

I'm confused? You guys get bent out of shape when someone shoots a bird at 60 yards, but someone shoots one at 3 and there's the same outrage? What's wrong at all with letting one get in your lap. I like to get them in close. I don't see the ethics issue. It's kind of the same deal as hunting with a rifle and shooting a deer at 200 vs a bow and shooting a deer at 30. As long as it's an ethical weapon and hunter, who cares? Congratulations to the guy.
