I just got back from Turkey Camp with the first podcast of 2016.
The Galloping Gobbler (http://genesis9.angzva.com/?p=5160)
Enjoy.
Thanks for sharing that.
I listened to while I was sitting on the couch and I felt like I was there with you, made me forget I've still got a month to go till my season opens up.

Thanks. That's what there there for. I've got several years worth of them. You can access them off the main page by clicking "Podcasts" on the top menu bar.
I have seen this behavior in a gobbler before, but never at this point in the season. This fellow pitched down off the roost and came on a dead run from hundreds of yards off, crossed at the Honey Hole and was covering 50 yards or more between gobbles. My guess is that there is a complete dearth of hens on this ridge right now. I only heard one all weekend. This is normally what you would expect of a gobbler late in the season after the hens are all on the nest. I've seen them cruising like that, although never that fast.
