Title: Some good reading... Suggestions?
Post by: alclark2 on March 22, 2016, 08:31:18 AM
I just finished Tenth Legion by Tom Kelly. I know I started with the best. I'm looking for another good turkey book specifically. Is there another close second by Tom Kelly? Or another author? Let me know what's out there! Thanks

A fork in the road Is another good one by Tom Kelly, have heard good things about Kenny Morgan's books. On a non turkey hunting subject Robert Ruark's Old man and the boy and the old man's boy grows older are books I read every year.

doesn't strictly pertain to turkey hunting, although it has a chapter or two dedicated to it. A Southern Sportsman: Hunting Memoirs of Henry Edward Davis is highly recommended. He recounts his experience growing up in 19th century SC and all the hunting pursuits he went on in the woods and they hunted in the market hunting days. One of the best outdoors book I've ever read, well worth the money.

I don't own anywhere near the number of books I'd like to, but of what I do have The Old Pro Turkey Hunter, by Gene Nunnery is my favorite.

My first two books were by Mr. Bland. First printing of The Turkey Hunters Digest and the one possum58 mentioned, Some Turkey Scratchings.

I've really enjoyed Kenny Morgans America, Wild Turkeys & Mongrel Dogs. Getting ready to read his book Turkey Hunting a One Man Game. I've read several of Tom Kelly's books and one that I really like was Better on a Rising Tide.
