This a Billy Bush call......It's been named the "church" call.....

For those that run these calls, no explaination needed.... :you_rock:

I've never run one.  Why do they call it the "church" call? Because it preaches to those gobblers? Lol

Good thought, John.....

My dear friend from NY gave it the Church call name, because of the holes in the butternut.....He said, the call sounded Holy..... ::)

I have a Burrville Bomber made by Tim Fralik that has served me well since I got it in 2006. Its a Black Limba box with a Walnut paddle. Both sides play well and I can get more than one yelp tone per side. Kee kee ain't bad and I gobble on it also. Nice clucks and cutting too.

(http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r221/Treerooster/ColobirdJamesgot2012_zps523b9eea.jpg) (http://s145.photobucket.com/user/Treerooster/media/ColobirdJamesgot2012_zps523b9eea.jpg.html)

Another longbox I like is my Mike Lapp Butternut with Canarywood paddle. Its a special call to me for several reasons. I have owned it since 2011 but its been traveling around to several hunters that have killed birds with it. Got 5 kills on it now. I have the call right now and hope to kill a gobbler with it this spring and send it on to a few more guys later. I am not as familiar with this call as I am my Bomber but it will call them up no doubt. Great sound in her.

That is a fine pair of calls...... :icon_thumright:

Dang Andrew!  That Mann box is smokin.  What is the standard length for the DoDat boxes versus the norm?

My Mann Do Dat is about 1/2 inch shorter than Steve's standard longboxes.

Here's two of my favorites, Ole Jane and Big Nasty made by my friend Chuck Anderson. These are two bad girls. They have accounted for several dead gobblers.

Got a paddle a few days ago from Jgarrett. Was teaching yesterday at a club deeply wooded. I ran the box to show a girl I mentor how to use them. As I was running the box, (SS Longbox), redheart over poplar the birds started gobbling. It's only Sept but I can't wait to use it. I'm not a giant box call guy but love a certain few. This is one. Props to SS for a great call

Box calls can do a job that other calls just can't. I'm a fan of all calls but on a windy day it's hard to beat the volume a box call can produce. I'll start the hunt with a box, switch to a pot then generally finish with a diaphragm. But, I feel lost without the box. Lots of guys don't like the bulk or the sound associated with carrying a box but I feel naked without one. Looking at these long boxes is making me drool.

^^^Exactly.  If I don't have a boat paddle with me, I just don't feel right. My calls aren't as fancy or as high dollar as most pictured, but they definitely talk the talk and earn their keep. Thanks for sharing!
